Safe deposit (restricted access)


Confidentiality and security is maintained in processing such cultures. These cultures are not listed in the catalogue. There is an annual fee for such deposits. Depositor needs to sign an agreement with NCMR for making such a deposit. These cultures can be accessed (on payment of required fee) by the depositor only. Steps involved in safe deposit are basically the same as for general deposit except that two ampoules of freeze dried cultures are sent to the depositor. Depositor should open one ampoule and confirms if the preserved culture represent the original deposit. NCMR accession number is communicated upon receiving depositor’s confirmation. The depositor may request viability statement by paying required fee.


Deposit for patent procedures (restricted access)

Deposit under this category may fulfil the requirement of filing patent(s) in India. Confidentiality and security is maintained in processing such cultures. These cultures are not listed in the catalogue. There is a onetime fee for such a deposit. These cultures can be accessed (on payment of required fee) by the depositor as well as by legally entitled parties as per rules. Steps involved in safe deposit are basically the same as for general deposit except that two ampoules of freeze dried cultures are sent to the depositor. Depositor should open one ampoule and confirms if the preserved culture represent the original deposit. NCMR accession number is communicated upon receiving depositor’s confirmation. The depositor may request viability statement by paying required fee.
